A Nigerian estate agent and son of a landlord have been arraigned for allegedly conspiring and renting a bedroom and sitting room apartment at 9 Olorunwa Street Shasha, Lagos southwest Nigeria, to 50 prospective tenants at the same time.
The 36-year old Adedoyin Agboola was arrested and charged before Ejigbo Magistrate’s court, for deceiving the prospective tenants to give him N10 million, about $62,000, on the pretence of renting out the apartment to them.
The police charged him with a 70-count felony, obtaining under false pretence and stealing under sections 409, 278 and 312 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2011. His plea was not granted and the presiding Magistrate, Mrs M B Folami ordered that the matter to be transferred to Lagos High Court, Ikeja for trial.
Among those he allegedly defrauded are Sunday Aladeniyi, N145,000, Sunday Peter, N115,000, Fatai Ayoola, N175,000, Ariyo Femi, N150,000. Juliana Gabriel, N300,000, Peter Fatoki, N225,000, and Franklin Sunday, N220,000.
Others include Shola Bakare, N100,000, Salami Lateef, N 300,000, Akande Olusegun, N135,000, Anselem Okoli, N230,000.
While he was in court, more victims trooped to the court to testify and stand as witnesses against him.
The incident has resulted in a free-for-all between the victims who struggled to occupy the apartment.
The fight started after the victims discovered that they had been duped but the police at Shasha division later intervened in the matter and launched a manhunt for the suspect.
While the suspect was arrested and arraigned, his accomplices are still at large.
Some of the victims who spoke to P.M.NEWS expressed frustrations and blamed their predicament on Agboola, who denied the allegation.
He told P.M.NEWS that when his father, Reuben Adedoyin, died this year, the family decided to build the apartment in their compound.
He said he contacted his friend, who is a developer, to build the apartment on certain conditions, but was not aware he collected such amount from the victims.
Agboola claimed that it was when the victims came to his house and started fighting over the apartment that he knew about the incident.
He said: “ When I tried to contact my friend who developed the place, I discovered he had fled.”
Agboola’s aged mother, Mrs Maria Adedoyin , also alleged that the developer of the house, whom she identified as Tolu Johnson, betrayed the family by defrauding the people

A 32-year old Nigerian pastor, Kehinde Boluwaji, has landed himself in trouble for allegedly dipping his fingers and pouring salt inside a woman’s private part under the false pretence of carrying out deliverance on her.

He also told Busola that the bad dreams she always had will not allow her to get a husband and when she eventually gets married, she will not get pregnant and have children.
He told her the deliverance will start from her private part to other parts of her body.
Boluwaji then invited and locked her in his one room apartment at 7, Arounmalase street, Ijeshatedo, Lagos for ‘prayer and deliverance’.
According to the victim, “he ordered me to remove my dress and pant and sit on a floor and spread my legs wide open while he was busy muttering and pretending he was praying.
“He brought out a white handkerchief and salt and first ordered me to pour it inside my private part and later joined me in doing so. He started fingering me, pretending that he was praying. He used the handkerchief and cleaned it and took it away.”
On why she did not raise an alarm, Busola said she was overwhelmed by the prophecy he told her.
She was later rescued by the victim’s friend who saw her when she entered the pastor’s room and raised an alarm. This forced the pastor to open the door and by then she was still nude.
The neigthbours descended on the pastor and battered him before the police at Ijeshatedo division rescued and took him to the station.
He was charged to a Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge of conduct likely to cause the breach of public peace contrary to Sections 166 and 348 of the Criminal Code Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2011.
Part of the charge reads: “That you pastor Kehinde Boluwaji on the same date, time and place did conduct yourself in a manner likely to cause breach of public peace by asking the victim to use salt to wash her private part.”
He pleaded not guilty.

“Uncle Collins”, 30, Arraigned For Defiling 6 Year Old Somolu Girl With His Fingers
A 30-year-old Nigerian businessman, Joshua Collins, on Wednesday appeared before an Ebute Meta Magistrates’ Court in Lagos, charged with raping a 6-year-old girl.
Collins, a resident of Oderemo Street, Somolu, Lagos, is facing a two-count charge of indecent assault and rape.
Police prosecutor R. Odigie said the crime was committed on 25 January at about 3 p.m. at the defendant’s residence and that the accused who was squatting with a friend, lived in the same compound with the girl’s parents.
He said that on the fateful day, the girl and her friends were playing in the compound when Collins called her into the flat he shared with his friend. The prosecutor said that when the girl’s mother noticed her absence in the house, she asked her older sister to look for her.
Odigie said that the older sister saw the little girl coming out of the flat occupied by the accused.
“She came out of the place and was shaking and when questioned tried to lie about where she had been. But when her mother beat her, she confessed that it was Uncle Collins that called her,” the prosecutor said.
He said the girl also alleged that the defendant had sex with her by putting his fingers and genital into her private part.
Odigie said that when her mother conducted an investigation, she discovered that the girl’s pant was stained with blood.
He said that the alleged offences contravened the provisions of Sections 135 and 137 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Lagos State2011.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Miss S.O. Solebo, granted him bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum, and ordered that the sureties should each pay N100,000 into the account of the court’s Chief Registrar.
She transferred the case to the family court because of the age of the girl, and adjourned the case to 20 February for mention.

BlackBerry launches Z10 which has no keyboard and looks just like an iPhone
Blackberry has unveiled the Z10, a new mobile phones it hopes will revive its fortunes and take on Apple - and it looks just like an iPhone.
The handset, along with a second which has a physical keyboard, go on sale in the UK tomorrow, and elsewhere in the world next month.
The Z10 has a touch screen, and the Q10 has a physical keyboard similar to the old Blackberry handsets.
'We have been on a journey of transformation,' said Thorsten Heins of the firm, which also announced today it is changing its name from RIM to Blackberry.
But the handset maker was immediately accused of 'copying' the iPhone's design and software with its BB10 operating system.

'The similarity between BB10 and the iPhone has caused concern, but iOS is simple to use, so its no surprise they have gone down that road,'
'If there is a cause for concern it could be around the shape of the Z10, the rounded corners look very similar to an Apple product.
'Apple has been notoriously litigious about that element - but I have seen no evidence they are going to take any action.'
The shares fell 5 per cent as the Canadian announced it was changing its name from BlackBerry from Research In Motion, and by the conclusion of the launch the shares were down 7 per cent.
'It's been one year since I was handed the reins, and it has been challenging, but exhilarating,' said Mr Heins.
'Now, finally, here we are - Blackberry 10 is here'
The firm also said it had signed up musician Alicia Keys as its 'global creative director'.
'Alicia Keys has come to BlackBerry because she believes in the product and technology, and subscribes to our overriding philosophy to ‘Keep Moving’: to empower people through mobile computing and communications,' said Mr Heins.
Mr Heins said the new handsets were for 'people who are hyper-connected socially, who need balance in both personal and professional lives.
'People who want to flow, who don't want a home button. Blackberry 10 will keep them moving.'
The new phones run an entirely new operating system called Blackberry 10.
The handsets do not have a home button, instead using a user's thumb to 'flick' across the screen.
It also has a new 'peek' feature that allows owners to see their email and other messages from anywhere in the phone's menu system by swiping from the left of the screen.
The firm also said it had worked to create the 'best typing experience' of any handset.

P-Square spends N74m to get Usher
In their quest for world dominance, P-Square have broken the bank to get top acts such as Akon and Rick Ross to feature on their songs. From our findings we discovered that the duo of Peter and Paul Okoye spent a whooping sum of N11m to get Akon to appear on their ‘Chop My Money’ remix and to appear in the video. They went higher in order to acquire Rick Ross’ services on ‘Beautiful Onyinye’ remix. P-Square paid the American rapper N13m to feature and appear in the video.
The brothers haven’t stopped there. Klieg Lights can authoritatively reveal that they spent $450,000 to get American R&B superstar Usher to feature in one of their songs. This fee includes studio session, recording and appearing in their video. The P-Square track featuring Usher hasn’t been released yet.
Our source claims that Peter and Paul are hesitant in dropping the songs they have done with foreign acts because they don’t want Nigerians to believe they have joined the group known as Illuminati. The Illuminati is rumoured to be a secret society made up of influential individuals including entertainers. The society is perceived to be evil and artistes such as Kanye West and Lady Gaga have started receiving backlashes from members of the public.
While P-Square haven’t spared any dime in getting these foreign artistes to work with them, these expenses have eaten deep into their pockets. After their foreign sojourn to get these acts, P-Square came home to an empty account. They had to borrow an undisclosed amount of money from a bank to settle down.
“They had to borrow some money so that they can be on their feet. They are not worried however. They see it as an investment that will yield returns. Already African countries have started calling them to perform their new remixed songs,” said our source.

You are barely established in the movie industry, why jump into music?
I have always loved music. My mum had a BSc in music from the University of Nigeria when I was younger. She used to sing and dress up in cute attires and hand gloves and all. I kind of liked it. So she made me love music.
Why do you seem not to be doing a lot of movies these days?
I have been doing lots of stuff that have nothing to do with movies. I’ve been very busy, but now I’m very free. That’s why I’m getting back to music. I did a movie last year and it’s about to come out soon. I’m also working on producing a movie in April this year.
So how far have you gone with the plans for the movie?
The script writer has delivered and I’m okay with the story line. I’m just waiting for Emmanuel Ehumadu to finish up the movie he is doing now. Once he is through, he will help me out with the casting, and then shooting will start in April.
How well have your fans received your album, ‘Naughty Queen’?
My marketer has been out for a while now. He just got back, so the distribution of the hard copy will commence soon. So far, my fans love the album.
You are one artiste that doesn’t seem to care about what people say about you, how do you get the boldness to do so?
I do actually care about what people say about me, but I don’t care about what biased people say about me.
Do you think you are always being misunderstood in the media?
No, not really. I’m very down to earth, I don’t pretend. I’m as real as they come.
How do you feel when you read or hear false stories about you?
I take them as one of those things. Then if the person peddling the false story is worth it, I reply and clarify things. If the person is not worth it, I ignore it.
How was growing up for you?
Good and fun. I have the best parents and good siblings.
What were your parents’ reactions when you told them you were going into entertainment?
While growing up, my dad actually bought a grand piano for my mum, so we all played around with it. He has always encouraged me to be true to myself.
How would you describe your style?
My mood or the event determines that. Also, the time of the event matters. During day time, I’m well dressed and decent. If it’s a night party and I want to get naughty, I wear hot stuff.
Do you have a favourite fashion accessory?
I don’t have a favourite accessory though, but I can’t do without my perfumes.
